Convent

The Provincial Superior Rev.Sr.Alex and team wanted to buy particular land for cultivation. By this time the people of  Kannara  ardently wished for a new convent in their parish. So the superiors bought  a plot of land there.

              When, St. Joseph church Kannara became a free parish in  1993, six sisters started to stay in the parish church  itself  and  started a nursery school on June 15th. The foundation stone for the convent was laid by Rev. Fr. Charles Chungath.In 1994, Fr. Charles Chungath was transferred and Rev. Fr. Paul Arikkattu became the parish priest and stayed in the parish. So the sisters changed their residence to Assisi convent. At the end of February, a temoporal room was prepared and sisters started to stay there. The new house was blessed and inaugurated by Rt. Rev. Joseph Kundukulam on16th Sep. 1994 under the name Kannara Clare Jyothi F.C convent. Considering the need of the local people a Malayalam medium L.P school was started there. In 1995 a creche and in 1997 a clinic also started  there. In the year 2000 a special school "Jai Christo Sadan" was started for the mentally retarded children with the permission of State Government. The foundation stone for the hostel to the  special children was laid by Rev. Fr. Sebi Puthoor on 23rd Aug 2009. Sisters are very much interested in faith formation & house visiting   and give leadership to various pious associations. They have a very close contact with the local people and act as an actual help for them in their different needs.
