Convent

Puthanpeedika was a place where the treatment facilities were limited. So it was a great dream of Rev. Fr. Antony Vellanikkaran and parishioners to start a convent.They approached Rev. Sr. Felicita, Provincial Superior of Assisi Province, Thrissur and discussed the matter in detail and took a favourable decision to start a convent there. The foundation stone was laid on 6th March 1974 and the blessing and consecration was on 15th Aug 1974 by Rt .Rev. Dr. Joseph Kundukulam, Bishop of Thrissur Diocese. It was blessed with the presence of many priests, sisters and well wishers. On 27th December1974, Thrissur Bishop Mar Joseph Kundukulam inaugurated Padua Hospital also.

To lead the younger generation into the light of knowledge and to give the first lessons of divine and humane values, a nursery school also started in 1975. Later the development of the hospital was a speedy one. Operation theatre, labour room, ICU, laboratory, X-ray, causality etc are the evidences for it.

The sisters of Padua convent are sincerely co-operated with the parish and parish activities such as faith formation, family units gathering, house visiting etc.
