Convent

The reason for the origin of Alphonsa Bhavan was the idea of the 2nd Vatican Council, which was a new star in the history of Catholic Church. The aim of this convent was the protection of the students who are studying in the parallel college.

               The blessing of the convent was done by Mar Joseph Kundukulam. It was   inaugurated to commemorate the blissful moments of the proclamation of Alphonsamma as Blessed.  Alphonsa Bhavan continues its journey by witnessing Alphonsa spirituality in the parish and also in the apostolic field. Alphonsa hostel is the integral part of this convent.

               By the order of the Educational Director, the L. P section of St. Sebastion C.G.H.S was separated from high school and Rev. Sr. Leontia was appointed as the first headmistress. In 1988, in order to vacate the school building from the church courtyard, a new school building was attached to Alphonsa Bhavan.

               When the importance of English medium schools increased, the local people expressed their desire to start an English medium school at Nellikunnu. So since 1991 June onwards an English medium school was started working in the Don Bosco College building under the name Alphonsa Convent English medium school. By listening the crying of the people, Alphonsa bhavan sisters do their loving service in the parish. Through their different apostolic activities they are witnessing God's love.
