Convent

It was a long awaited dream of the Porathur Parishners to have a convent in their parish. To fulfil their dream in 2001 December, Vicar Rev. Fr. Prince Poovathingal and representatives approached Assisi Provincial team. Accepting their invitation Provincial Superior Rev. Sr. Filby & team decided to start a convent there. With the consent of Thrissur Archbishop Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhy, Rev. Fr. Paul Alappatt laid the foundation stone for the convent in 2002 February 11.

                          The blessing of the convent was done by His excellency Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhy in 2002 November 10. To give a strong foundation for spiritual and moral values to the new generation a nursery school was started with the convent. A counselling centre for Psychotherapy was also started with the convent.
