Blessed Sacrament F C Convent

Marathakara Bl. Sac. F.C Convent has its roots in the middle period of 20th century, which is erected essentially for prayer and adoration. The unique interest of Rev. Fr. Joseph Chirayath Konikkara, who was a great devotee of Bl. Sacrament,   opened the door for perpetual adoration convent at Marathakara. The small bungalow of Rev. Fr. Joseph was converted as Bl. Sacrament convent in the year 1944.

On 21st June 1944 , the foundation stone was laid by Mar George Alappatt and after completing the work On 13tyh Nov.1946 Mar Alappatt himself blessed the new convent and chapel. The founder of Marathakkara Bl. Sac .Convent, Rev. Fr. Joseph Chirayath died on 24th November 1946 and he was buried in the convent chapel. Since 31st July 1947 onwards with the permission of  Mar Alappatt, daily one hour adoration began in the chapel and at the month of December, the whole day adoration was granted. Indeed it was a special privilege   to this convent only. The solemn exposition of the host in the monstrance is really a blessing to everyone.

On 12th January 1958 Rev. Sr. Nobert fell down while cleaning the altar and she is bed ridden for more than half a century. Being an angel of suffering, her consoling presence has become a solace to many burdened hearts. From 3rd May 1969 onwards canonical novitiate was transferred to Marakkara from West Chalakkudy. 16th July 1974 onwards a prayer bhavan is attached to this convent. All the sisters would get the provision for a prayer week in a year in this convent. From 26th July 1994 onwards canonical novitiate was changed to Venginissery Alvernia Convent. Now postulants and 2nd year novices are doing their formation at Marathakara.
